Coronavirus Postpones Tokyo Olympic Games For Year Print

After much consideration, officials have set the event for no later than the summer of 2021. Even so, it will be most difficult to make changes for those eager fans in America and around the world who already purchased travel, hotel and game ticket reservations.

For many, including athletes, the news means changing plans that have been in place, many prepaid, for months or years. The U.S. Olympic Committee and each sport's national governing body are coordinating flights for athletes, coaches and officials, and may be consulted for new reservations. The major numbers of fans and families usually arrange their own travel plans. The press and advertisers also book flights and lodging for staffers who cover the Games.

If you’ve already made transportation and hotel reservations for the originally scheduled 2020 dates, apply for changes and/or refunds as soon as possible. Of course, there’s no guarantee that the evil coronavirus bug will be gone by then.
