Wizard of Oz (1939): We never stop hoping to find that perfect land somewhere over the rainbow. Judy, Toto and her traveling pals still live in our dreams. Around The World In 80 Days (1956): Our panel opted for the brilliant original with David Niven, Shirley MacLaine, Frank Sinatra, Noel Coward, Red Skelton and all the other guest stars. Not the recent enjoyable, but socky-choppy remake by Jackie Chan.

Some Like It Hot (1959): Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in drag used the men’s room decades before civil rights groups demanded it. Marilyn Monroe adds sexy charm to the fun classic. The script depicts their escape from New York to Miami. However, hotel and beach scenes were actually shot at the Del Coronado in San Diego CA.

Stagecoach (1939): Young John Wayne rides into the sunset in this classic. Then the Duke took over Hollywood as the biggest star of all time in many more classics.

The Grapes of Wrath (1940): John Steinbeck’s memorable story about how the Great Depression and Dust Bowl uprooted families. Henry Fonda leads the cast of great actors as they travel West to find hope for a better life.

The African Queen (1952): Two of movie history’s greatest, Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, star in this river journey. Their growing love and final triumph over all odds are inspirations for today’s senior travelers who seek world adventures.
