San Francisco CA: Monstrous Chinese New Year Parade

If your travel plans take you to the City by the Golden Gate, be sure to include this exciting event in your itinerary. Sponsored by Southwest Airlines, day long festivities will go on in the city’s venerable Chinatown, and a grand parade the night of Saturday, February 11.

First celebrated in the 1860s, San Francisco’s Chinese community has annually hosted the event. This is the year of the rooster, and many of the displays and parade floats will reflect that theme. Participating in the parade will be marching bands, ethnic dancers, fireworks, the traditional city-block-long Golden Dragon and 2017 Miss Chinatown U.S.A.
