Jay Leno used to say often as a lead-in to a joke about overweight people, “As if we’re not fat enough already .....” Royal Caribbean's answer may be, “On our new ship, it will be impossible to eat too much.” RCL’s brand new Oasis of the Seas, the largest passenger liner in history, is undergoing trials, and is expected to take its first passenger cruise in December to Caribbean ports.

Cruise ship

However, considering its concentration of eating venues aboard, maybe it could become Blubber of the Seas. It will carry 5,400 passengers and they will have options of dining in 24 different restaurants. Some eatery names include Giovanni’s Table, Park Cafe, Chops Grille, Seafood Shack, Boardwalk Bar, Mondo Cafe, Sorrento’s Pizzeria, Windjammer Buffet and Izumi. Some dining options will be included in the regular passenger cruise cost, while the more upscale eateries will add extra charges of from $5 to $15 per meal.

Just in case some eager already-booked passengers fear they may be left out of any of the chow lines, they should have no fear. They may start making dining reservations, beginning on July 7, for the initial December cruise and those on the Oasis of the Seas ongoing cruise schedules.
